I tend to have oily skin, and no this product doesn't help much with that. I still have to blot my face after lunch to remove excess 'glow'. But, the problem with other powder makeups is they don't look natural on me ... the color just is never quite right. After half a day the powder sinks into my pores as the oil surfaces - not pretty. Blotting removes most of the powder & have to reapply. I hate that I need to use any makeup at all; so much darn work when i could sleep those extra few minutes. However, I've been resisting buying this product for a few years just because I didn't believe the hype. I got stuck on using a brand called GloMinerals for a while. I thought it was ok for a while, considering I had no intentions of ever going back to liquid foundation ever again. It still would be ok if my pores were not large. My high metabolosm causes my engines to heat my skin & doesn't care one whit how inconvienient the reaction between hot skin, dry powder, & oil-free sun lotion can be.
Anyway, bareminerals stays on my skin, even after blotting the glow away, and the colors are perfect. I use the fairly light as a base for coverage & the bronzer for overall color. Be careful though, only a tiny amount will do. That color goes a long way.
A trick to save the loose powder from making a mess (as I discovered on my 1st use) is to tape all but 2-3 holes shut, turn jar upside down before opening & lightly tap the bottom with the back of the applicator brush. Unscrew the lid while still holding the jar uppside down. The right amount will drop into the lid. Use a clean paper plate to swirl & tap the brush since the lid is kinda small. I used the lid it a few times & tapped the powder right onto the counter each time. Stuffs too expensive to waste.
I use the bigger brush (nice brushes btw - way better than the ones at the grocery store) for mineral veil & base powder ... separate brush for the color bronzer. That way there is no chance of over doing the color as it is only on one brush.
Welp, think that about covers it. Oh, & if you have a ceiling fan in your bathroom - best to cut it off while playing with the powder. The breeze can make you waste an application or two.

Ladies, if you're looking for something to replace your foundation, this probably isn't it. I had a hard time filling in dark places like under my eyes, etc. with just the powder. Plus, it wouldn't stick unless my face was really uberly moisturized. So I kept a super greasy moisturizer in the box to remind myself to hydrate before using. The only I thought was good was the bronzer.

A couple of people my mom and I knew tried bare minerals and they looked great. It gives a soft focus to your face and it honestly feels lightweight enough that I am not rushing home to wash it off. I've never said that about any other make up. Definitely buy the kit with the extra brushes because you need a minimum of 3 for the foundation, warmth, and mineral veil. The foundation matte did keep my face from being oily without having the caked on look of most foundations. The warmth is a type of blush which in the medium skin tone kit turned out to be a dark rose color - good for winter but not exactly a summery color. The mineral veil does give you that glowing look and if I only could buy one product again it would be this. I am not sure if Bare Minerals has a concealer in their line but if you have any blemishes, zits, or age spots then it still shows through the makeup.
